Joe Sanfilippo N.P.
Joe Sanfilippo is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Joe graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with his Masters in Nursing in 2003. He has enjoyed working with the pediatric population in Nashville including the many diverse multi-culturally rich populations. Joe’s native language is Italian, but he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Language Arts in Spanish while simultaneously studying for his Master’s Degree in Nursing. He appreciated the ability to communicate with other cultures especially while traveling to more than 100 medical missions throughout the United States and overseas over the course of 25 years with Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps. In 2003, Joe observed the significant need for multi-cultural healthcare in Nashville and hence opened Academy Children’s Clinic with the goal of bridging the gap in care. He has watched Academy Children’s Clinic grow through the efforts of both wonderful Providers and Ancillary staff to become one of the premier locations for the underserved in Nashville. Joe enjoys spending time traveling with his family, cooking, enjoying foods from around the world and of course watching the University of Tennessee Vols football.

FAVORITE SUPERHERO

Superman of course. X-ray vision would be really helpful in my job. Broken bones wouldn’t stand a chance.

PET

Although Joe and his family attempted the whole “Pet thing” with adopting rabbits, they quickly learned that the definition of “exponential” was probably originally termed by Rabbit breeders. It took more than a year to find homes for the many, many, many extra unexpected offspring. We will be trying for a puppy this year.

FUNNY FACTS/ FAVORITE PLACE

Joe has been Sky Diving, Bungee jumping, Frozen Waterfall Climbing, Cliff Diving, Para-sailing and Hang Gliding but will get dizzy and almost pass out if he gets too close to the balcony ledge at a hotel.
